Michelle Beesley is a Teacher, Mother, Wife and Writer. With the pending publication of her story Escape to D’ Amour in the anthology -Destination Romance she can also now call herself a romance author. Michelle has always loved the written word and is a self confessed bookworm favouring chick lit, contemporary romance and crime novels like ‘The Dry’. If not reading she can be found writing. At 51 Michelle decided to embark on her year of saying ‘ YES’ and after being a self confessed scaredy cat all her life she embarked on a trip to South of Africa and took the year off to concentrate on writing , vowing to embrace every writing opportunity that came her way.
Writing Highlights
After sending a story to local e- magazine ‘ She Brisbane’ about her experiences in Africa, Michelle gained writing experience writing for a number of online magazines. She is now a proud columnist with a large following on ‘She Society’ – a now national e- magazine for women. She has also written for Weekend Notes and was a guest blogger for Families Magazine writing an article about travelling with boys.
Her short story ‘ Escape to D’Amour ‘ is one of ten stories chosen for the ‘ Destination Romance ‘ anthology being published by Serenity Press in October 2018. Michelle is currently working on a romance novel set in France. Michelle has written a children’s story entitled ‘Flamingos are Pink?’ and is excited to be collaborating with her friend -artist Donna Gibb. Donna and Michelle have always been fascinated by flamingos and Donna’s beautiful illustrations bring the story to life.
Interests
In her spare time Michelle is a keen walker, yoga enthusiast and lover of fashion. Michelle can most often be found in a coffee shop chatting with friends, beside a rugby field cheering on her favourite teams or reluctantly travelling to every corner of the globe with her husband. Michelle is happiest at home in Brisbane where she is often seen at the theatre, music events, movies, restaurants and browsing in her favourite bookstores. She writes about what she likes and what interests her, in the hope that others will find it interesting too. She has found herself interviewing people from all walks of life including- USA Today bestselling author -Amy Andrews, local newsreader – Melissa Downes, singer- Casey Donovan and outspoken writer and comedian Seattle’s Lindy West to name just a few.
It is a joy and pleasure for Michelle to be able to tell these unique women’s stories.
